Chappell Roan Almost Replaced Herself At No. 1 — If It Wasn’t For An Exciting Newcomer

Chappell Roan nearly replaces herself at No. 1 in the U.K., but Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” takes the ... More crown as “The Giver” starts strong at No. 2. She only recently scored her first No. 1 in the nation, and this frame, she almost managed the rare feat of knocking herself out of the top spot. Almost. Instead, a newcomer swoops in and claims the throne, forcing Roan to settle for second place, at least for now. "The Giver" Debuts at No. 2 Roan’s brand new single "The Giver" launches at No. 2 on the latest edition of the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most-consumed tracks in the U.K. every week based on sales and streams. It’s a strong debut by any standard, but one that’s perhaps slightly bittersweet. Not only is Roan unable to notch another No. 1 with her latest release, but she also misses out on replacing herself at the top. "Pink Pony Club" Slips — But Stays Strong Last frame, Roan was running the show with "Pink Pony Club." That track finally rose to No. 1 on the list dated March 13, 2025, giving the rising star her first chart-topper in the U.K. It held on for two frames before falling to No. 4, where it sits this time around. Alex Warren Claims His First U.K. No. 1 The main reason Roan wasn’t able to earn back-to-back No. 1s? Alex Warren. The relative newcomer rises from the runner-up rung to the summit this week with what may be considered his breakout hit "Ordinary." The tune climbs to No. 1 in its sixth week on the tally, marking Warren’s first chart-topper in the U.K., and perhaps signaling the start of something much bigger for the singer-songwriter. Chappell Roan’s Four Top 10s (And Counting) With the arrival of "The Giver," Roan now counts four top 10 hits in the U.K. on the Official Singles chart. Her breakout hit "Good Luck, Babe!" nearly became her first champion, but stopped just short, peaking at No. 2. Then came the infectious "Hot To Go!," which also climbed high, ultimately reaching No. 4. Add in "Pink Pony Club" and now "The Giver," and Roan is quickly building a discography packed with top-tier hits. “The Giver” is Charting Across the Board "The Giver" makes noise not just on the main chart, but across the board throughout the U.K. The cut opens at No. 4 on the Official Streaming ranking and enters at No. 9 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads lists. A New Era for Chappell Roan Roan’s "The Giver" may also serve as the first taste of what’s to come from the pop superstar. It’s her first major release since she won the Grammy for Best New Artist earlier this year, and it’s notable for a distinct sonic shift. The tune sees her stepping away from the more traditional pop of her introductory hits and venturing into country-leaning territory. That might surprise some fans, but if her quick chart success is any indication, they’re already on board.
